For importers, retailers and interior professionals in the Netherlands, teak root furniture represents one of the most distinctive and commercially attractive categories in the natural-wood segment. This guide explains what teak root furniture is, why it suits Dutch and wider European interiors, and how to source it efficiently from Indonesia.
What Is Teak Root Furniture?
Teak root furniture is crafted from the root system of the teak tree — the dense, naturally twisted material that remains after the timber has been harvested. Rather than being discarded, each root is cleaned, shaped, sanded and hand-finished into a functional, sculptural piece.
Because the raw material is organic, every item is unique. The grain, the curves and the hollows of the root are preserved, giving each table, stool or console a character that cannot be reproduced industrially. This is precisely what makes teak root furniture so effective in premium retail and design-led interiors.
Why Teak Root Suits the Dutch and European Market
Dutch interiors tend towards clean lines, natural light and restrained, warm materials. Teak root furniture fits this context naturally:
- Natural, understated tones — warm honey and pale wood tones that complement neutral walls and light flooring.
- Sculptural presence — a single teak root console or coffee table becomes the focal point of a room.
- Sustainability narrative — the material is reclaimed; nothing is cut down to produce it.
- Durability — teak is naturally dense and resistant, making it suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
Our Collection
Our teak root range is organised into six families, all produced in Jepara, Central Java — Indonesia's established centre of wood craftsmanship:
- Dining tables — from 120×120 up to 200×200 cm, glass-top or solid-top.
- Coffee and side tables — organic root bases with glass or solid tops.
- Consoles — including live-edge and classic teak root designs.
- Stools and sculpture — statement pieces with natural form.
- Bowls and decorative items — for table top and shelf presentation.
- Benches and stands — larger pieces for hospitality and retail displays.
Sourcing Teak Root Furniture from Indonesia
For first-time importers, the practical questions are quality consistency, packing and logistics. We work as a single point of contact from Indonesia, which means one team handles production, quality inspection, export packing and documentation, and coordination with your forwarder.
See the teak root collection and the wholesale terms for Dutch importers.
We welcome trade enquiries from importers, wholesalers, furniture retailers, interior designers and hospitality projects. To prepare an accurate quotation we need the following:

Packing, loading and shipping

Container loading in Jepara — packed, checked against the packing list and staged before dispatch.
Every order is packed with protective wrapping, stacked to a load plan and staged before it leaves the factory. We list each piece so that what arrives matches what was ordered, and we can supply a container load plan for your customs broker.
Where does the container actually leave from? Everything is loaded in Jepara, on the north coast of Central Java, roughly two hours by road from the port of Semarang. Cartons are staged, checked against the packing list, then driven down to the quay and lifted onto the vessel. Semarang is the port we quote from, which is why FOB Semarang is the term most buyers work on.
